Set up in a minute. Then ask in plain English.

Connect Incumbently to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, pull the same data through the API, and get alerts when accounts change.

Start here

Three steps.

Connect an assistant

One address. Works in any MCP client.

Incumbently runs a remote MCP server with OAuth. Add the address, sign in, and allow access. Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor come with Pro and Max.

Server address
https://app.incumbently.com/mcp
Claude
  1. Open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector and paste the address.
  3. Sign in to Incumbently and allow access.
ChatGPT
  1. Open Settings, then Apps and Connectors.
  2. Create a connector with the address.
  3. Sign in to Incumbently and allow access.
Cursor
  1. Add the server to .cursor/mcp.json.
  2. Reload Cursor, then sign in when asked.
.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "incumbently": {
      "url": "https://app.incumbently.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Other clients work the same way: add the address as a remote server, then sign in when the client opens the browser.

What it can do
  • Find any tool in the catalogue
  • Summarise a tool: customers, adoptions and drops
  • List companies using a tool, with filters
  • Show who adopted or dropped a tool, and when
  • Look up a company's stack and history
  • Report on the tools you track
Try asking
  • Who dropped Zendesk in the last 30 days?
  • Which fintechs in Germany use Snowflake?
  • What does stripe.com run, and what changed this year?
Good to know
  • Questions are unlimited under fair use
  • Answers follow your plan: Pro sees 12 months of changes, Max the full history
  • Remove an app in the dashboard and it loses access at once
API

The same data, in your code.

Create a key in the dashboard under Claude and API. Send it as a Bearer token. Every response is JSON.

Base URL

EndpointReturnsCredits
GET /v1/meYour plan and the credits you have leftFree
GET /v1/tools?search=zendeskFind a tool in the catalogueFree
GET /v1/tools/:toolCompanies using it, adopted and dropped in 30 days, and 12 months of changes1
GET /v1/tools/:tool/companiesCompanies using a tool. Filters: country, size, industry1 per company
GET /v1/tools/:tool/changesAdoptions and drops. Filters: kind (adopted or dropped), since, size, country1 per change

Example
curl "https://app.incumbently.com/v1/tools/zendesk/changes?kind=dropped&since=2026-10-01" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY"

One credit returns one company record. Pages hold up to 100 records; pass page=2 for more. Each response carries X-Credits-Charged and X-Credits-Remaining. Each key can make 60 requests a minute.

StatusCodeMeaning
401unauthorizedThe key is missing, wrong or revoked.
403plan_requiredThe API comes with Pro and Max.
402insufficient_creditsYou've used this month's credits.
429rate_limitedMore than 60 requests a minute on one key.
404not_foundNo tool or endpoint by that name.
400bad_requestA filter has the wrong format, like a date that isn't YYYY-MM-DD.
503unavailableData is briefly unavailable. Try again in a minute.

Errors look like {"error": {"code": "…", "message": "…"}}.

Alerts

Know when accounts change.

Free
  • A monthly email report of who started or stopped using your tool
Pro
  • A daily email digest of new changes across your tools
Max
  • Real-time email
  • A post to Slack or any webhook URL

Set alerts in the dashboard under Settings, then Alerts. Webhooks get a JSON post with a ready-to-read summary and the changes:

Webhook body
{
  "text": "Incumbently: 2 new changes\nDropped Zendesk: Acme (acme.com)\nAdopted Intercom: Acme (acme.com)",
  "changes": [
    { "tool": "Zendesk", "company": "Acme", "domain": "acme.com", "kind": "Dropped", "when": "Nov 6" }
  ]
}

A Slack incoming-webhook URL works as is, because Slack shows the text field.
