# Incumbently for AI agents

Incumbently tracks which companies use about 1,800 software tools, and when they start or stop using them. It also finds the decision makers at any company and their work emails. Use it to answer questions like "who dropped Zendesk this month?", "which US fintechs run Snowflake?", "what does stripe.com run?" or "who leads IT at acme.com?".

## Pick a way in

| You are | Use | Where |
| --- | --- | --- |
| An MCP client (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, others) | MCP server, OAuth | `https://app.incumbently.com/mcp` |
| Code or an agent calling HTTP | REST API, Bearer key | `https://app.incumbently.com/v1` |
| An A2A agent | Agent card | `https://app.incumbently.com/.well-known/agent-card.json` |

Every way in needs an Incumbently workspace on Pro or Max. Sign up at https://app.incumbently.com/signin. How to get credentials, including signing up by email on a person's behalf: https://www.incumbently.com/auth.md

## MCP tools

| Tool | Use it to |
| --- | --- |
| `search_tools` | Find a tool and its id. Call this first. |
| `tool_summary` | Get how many companies use a tool, and 30-day adoptions and drops. |
| `companies_using` | List companies that use a tool. Filter by country, size or industry. |
| `tool_changes` | List who adopted or dropped a tool, and when. |
| `company_stack` | Get a company's stack and change history from its domain. |
| `find_contacts` | List decision makers at a company, optionally for one team. Free. |
| `get_contact_email` | Get one contact's work email. 1 credit, only when found. |
| `my_tracked_tools` | See the tools the workspace tracks, with their numbers. |

## Good habits

- Resolve a tool name with `search_tools` before other calls. Names like "HubSpot" cover several products.
- Ask the person before getting more than a few work emails. Each one costs a credit.
- Say when data is missing rather than guessing. Some tools don't track drops (`drops_tracked: false`).
- Answers follow the workspace's plan: 12 months of history on Pro, all of it on Max.
- MCP questions are unlimited under fair use, about 100 companies per answer.
